Terra Flora Jewelry

Courtenay,  BC

Terra Flora Jewelry is a small business owned and solely staff ed by myself. I am a mother of two and work as a researcher at the University of British Columbia. Terra Flora Jewelry is purely a project of passion. I completed my bachelor degree in fi ne arts, with a specialization in metal working. While my career took another direction, silversmithing in evening has provided me a creative outlet and with plants and nature as my muse, it also allows me to reconnect, notice and appreciate the landscape.

The majority of sterling silver used in Terra Flora products comes from recycled sources. Mining has devastating consequences for Indigenous peoples and local ecosystems worldwide. For that reason I strive to source gemstones from small scale lapidary artists who use sustainable practices. I also source and cut some of the gemstones myself here on Vancouver Island. In my studio, I work with simple household ingredients in place of the harsh chemicals often used in metalsmithing. Terra Flora Jewelry is packaged using recyclable and biodegradable materials.

Making jewelry is a joyful, meditative practice for me. And so I create in the mindset of being intentional, keeping in mind the kind of energy I put into my pieces and the kinds of meanings the pieces might take on for those whom I make them for.
